Your appointment will still end at the scheduled time so the next client is not delayed. The full appointment fee still apply.
6. Do you offer direct billing?
Yes, direct billing may be available for many insurance providers. Coverage depends on your individual plan, your provider, and your available benefits. If direct billing is not approved or only covers part of the treatment, you are responsible for the remaining balance at the time of your appointment. 7. Will I receive a receipt?
Yes. A receipt can be provided for your records or insurance claim submission. Professional receipts generally include treatment details such as service type, date, duration, cost, payment method, business information, and therapist information.
3. Is GST charged on massage therapy?
Massage therapy is generally a taxable service for GST/HST purposes unless a specific exemption applies. In Alberta, GST is 5%.
8. What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit includes a short intake form and health history review. We will discuss your concerns, goals, pressure preference, and any areas to avoid. Your treatment plan will be based on your comfort level and needs.
9. Do I have to undress fully?
No. You undress only to your comfort level. You will be properly covered with a sheet or blanket throughout the treatment, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered.
10. Is massage painful?
Massage should not feel unbearable. Some therapeutic or deep tissue techniques may feel intense, but pressure can always be adjusted. Please speak up at any time if you want lighter or deeper pressure.
11. What type of massage should I book?
Relaxation massage is best for stress relief and general tension. Therapeutic or deep tissue massage may be better for specific tight muscles, soreness, posture-related tension, or recovery support. Prenatal, postnatal, hot stone, cupping, head massage, and face/neck/shoulder treatments may be recommended depending on your needs.
12. Can massage help with pain or tension?
Massage therapy may help reduce muscle tension, improve relaxation, support mobility, and ease stress-related discomfort. It is not a replacement for medical care. For severe, new, worsening, or unexplained symptoms, please speak with a physician or call Health Link 811 in Alberta
13. Can I book if I am pregnant?
Yes, prenatal massage may be available during pregnancy when appropriate. Please mention your pregnancy stage when booking. Extra positioning and support pillows may be used for comfort and safety. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or medical concerns, please check with your healthcare provider first.
14. Do you offer postnatal massage?
Yes. Postnatal massage can support relaxation, muscle tension relief, and recovery comfort after birth. Timing depends on your delivery, healing, and comfort level. If you had a C-section or complications, please get medical clearance first.
15. Do you offer massage for children or babies?
Yes, infant/kids massage may be available with parent or guardian consent and presence. Treatment is gentle, age-appropriate, and based on the child’s comfort. A parent or guardian must remain present.
16. What is cupping massage?
Cupping uses suction cups placed on the skin to help release tension and improve soft tissue mobility. Temporary marks or redness can happen and usually fade over time. Cupping may not be suitable for everyone, especially with certain skin, circulation, or medical conditions.
17. What is hot stone massage?
Hot stone massage uses warmed stones with massage techniques to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension. It may not be suitable for people with reduced heat sensitivity, certain skin conditions, circulatory issues, or some medical conditions.
18. When should I avoid massage?
Please avoid or reschedule massage if you have a fever, contagious illness, active infection, unexplained severe pain, recent injury, blood clot concerns, or any condition your doctor has advised against. When unsure, check with your healthcare provider first.
19. Is my personal information private?
Yes. Your personal and health information is kept confidential and used only for purposes such as booking, treatment, payment, receipts, insurance billing, and legal or professional requirements. Alberta private-sector businesses are subject to Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act.
20. Can I stop or change the treatment during the appointment?
Yes. Your consent matters throughout the appointment. You can ask to change pressure, skip an area, adjust positioning, or stop the treatment at any time.
21. What should I do after my massage?
Drink water, take it easy, and avoid heavy exercise right away if you feel sore. Mild tenderness can happen after deeper work. You may use cold or heat if needed, depending on what feels best for your body.
4. How often should I get massage?
It depends on your goals, lifestyle, and concern. Some clients book weekly or biweekly for specific tension or recovery support, while others book monthly for maintenance and relaxation.
5. Do I need a doctor’s referral for massage therapy?
No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to book a massage. However, some insurance plans may require a doctor’s note or prescription before they reimburse your treatment. Please check your individual benefits plan before your appointment
